terms & conditions

  1. These terms and conditions are known as the 'Rules’. The Rules apply to the Story of your Stuff Competition, submitting secondary schools agree to be bound by the Rules.
  2. The Story of Your Stuff Competition (“the Competition”) is open to secondary school students under the age of 18 who are attending school in the Republic of Ireland and who are residents of the Republic of Ireland.
  3. Entries must be submitted by the entrant's school. Entries will not be accepted from individual students. Entries need to be submitted one at a time. Submission of entries are welcome in Irish.
  4. The school confirms that the Competition entry video is an original piece of work owned by the competing student(s).
  5. The Competition is not open to employees of the EPA or their families, their agents, or anyone professionally associated with the Competition.
  6. The winning entry will receive €500 cash prize and their school will receive a €500 donation. The prize cannot be exchanged.
  7. The closing date of the Competition is 8 March 2019.
  8. The prize is subject to availability and in the event of circumstances beyond its control, we reserve the right to substitute similar or alternative prizes or equal or greater value.
  9. To enter the Story of Your Stuff Competition, entrants must communicate the story/lifecycle of an object through visual means.
  10. If entries are in the form of a video, please note that the maximum file size should be 200MB and the video should in .mp4, .mov or .wmv format.
  11. If entries include music, the entrant is responsible to ensure that they have full permission to use the music; it is illegal to use copyrighted music in video entries.
  12. All entries should use the following file naming convention: tsoys_yourentryname
  13. Upon submission, entries will be reviewed by the judging panel. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  14. Entries that are incomplete or those that are not in accordance with all the entry instructions will be invalid.
  15. The EPA reserves the right to disqualify an entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe that the Rules have been compromised.
  16. The EPA reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these terms and conditions without notice.
  17. No purchase necessary.
  18. DATA PROTECTION
    1. The EPA is the data controller in relation to all personal data submitted as part of an entry to the Competition. Personal data will be processed by the EPA in accordance with the EPA Privacy Policy
    2. Personal data processed during the Competition may include names, images, dates of birth, contact details, entrants’ class, school names and any other personal data shared by entrants in their competition submission.
    3. Schools must confirm that they have obtained the consent of a holder of parental responsibility for the processing of each participating students personal data for the purpose of entering this Competition.
    4. Where a video submitted to the Competition contains images of a child, the school must verify that consent has been obtained from a holder of parental responsibility for these images to be submitted as part of the Competition entry and processed by the EPA and its agents in administering the Competition.
    5. The EPA will not process the personal data provided for any purpose other than for the administration and promotion of the Story of Your Stuff Competition.
    6. The holders of parental responsibility for each finalist will be requested to complete a Parental Consent Form for the publication and promotion of the winning entries. Promotional activity will involve:
      1. Sharing the finalists’ videos, names, school names and photographic images of Competition finalists with media outlets including but not limited to DHR Communications.
      2. Publishing winning entries on the Competition website and on other EPA websites;
    7. The EPA will share personal data with a third-party data processor Blacknight Internet Solutions LTD engaged by the EPA to facilitate the Competition. Blacknight Internet Solutions will process entrants’ personal data in the following ways:
      1. Store all Competition entries on its systems for the duration of the Competition and for [one year] after the Competition has ended;
      2. Share Competition entries with the EPA, the judging panel and the Competition Ambassador;
      3. Promote the Competition in the manner described in sections 18.6.1 and 18.6.2 above.
